I still don't understand what you mean by the gun.

The screen size is relevant, and sides are chopped off in the clip.
Here's what it's like on my TV.

I paused a shot of the FPS scene where the gun was bobbed upmost, it's generally a very small part of the screen, it's only sticking up from the bottom.

And as another point, nothing you say really makes the clip bad, you don't have anything about pacing or flow, nothing about the quality of the monsters, the placement of the scenes and the occurence of events and their order, or the structure of the scenes.

The most relevant and sensible point you have is the random editing it displays at times.

I must be spoilt with good movies. Continue the discussion, kids.

edit: noo... this is just too tempting to resist....

Pacing: None, shoot things in the face 'cause it looks "Cool"

Flow: None, shoot more things

Monsters: Plastic, too dark to see anything about them, mediocre design (including pinky)

Order of events, plot, ect: None. At all. Jesus.

I really, really can't find a single redeeming point of that clip. It's like, generic action movie incarnate.

....and how is "The music sucks", "it's nausiatingly bad". "everything looks like plasticy poop" and "it just.... sucks." irrelevant?

You're talking to someone who owns copies of Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Gladiator, Metropolis, Citizen Kane, Edward Scissorhands, Black Hawk Down, White, Red, Blue, Amelie, The Devil's Backbone, Alien, Night Of The Living Dead, Terminator, and About Schmidt (Which is my favorite movie of all time).
I'm more spoilt than you are, I grew up with only three different movies in my VHS machine in South Africa, The Goodfellas, Citizen Kane, and the amazing Godfather.

So don't try your smarmy sarcasm, you just don't have any valid points.

Edit: You like to up the ante.

Pacing: Yes, the pauses in the action is perfect for tension, thinking about where the next monster will be, and etc. the Pinky scene at the end is the climax of the scene bringing together the rest in a larger action packed segment.

Flow: There's a constant speed throughout the scene, the monsters appear at perfect times, and it rather seems like a break from the rest of the movie, which is rather interesting and hardly ever done.

Monsters: They look kinda cheesy, but they are well made CG models and costumes, in fact, this is one of the few thumbs up points that Doom received from the critics.

Order of events, plot, ect: You seem to assume that the one scene was the entire movie.

I'm sorry tho' I'm just really competitive when it comes to debates, you're rather taking it a bit too personally.
But here you go.

Points I agree on:

The set design is bad, really, it looks funky, but it's just out of place.
The monsters look silly, they're great in some scenes, but at times they're almost laugh inducing.
Random edits are weird and misplaced, certainly doesn't belong in the scene.

Feisty little sucka', aren't cha? They're decent films, I suppose, the ones you mentioned... not exactly Sundance, but, what can you do?

I like that, "I'm more spoilt than you". What a gentleman you are. You must be a very popular little boy.

Wait wait wait, me taking this thing personally? Wow. Dude, I'm not the one screaming about what movies I own.

Listen. When a films only redeeming feature is a gimmicky, mediocrely done first person perspective action bit, it's not a film that's worth your time.

...and now I'm done here. I have things to do.

Edited the post above.
Just read it a bit.
And don't get so offended, I just wanted to start a debate because I knew someone wouldn't agree with me :P.
You can stop if you want to, but a civil argument is a rather intelligent pass time. k:

Is there any plot to the film, or is it just 'Blast-anything-that-moves-?

There is a plot to the film.
A badly slaughtered one that is vaguely resembling the game.
It's not that great, but the movie does have a pretty good way to present the story.

To sum it up shortly, it rather holds the Hell theme but the people in the movie are transformed from some bizarre scientific thingy that causes the evil inside of them to mutate their bodies.
The marines are sent to check out the center's communications silence, and stuff gets blown up.

Way more complex, but a brief synopsis.

It's one of those movies where the plot takes a backseat to the testosterone.

I'm still very surprised it wasn't directed by Uwe Boll. The whole film just screams his name. From the butchered plot, to the action, to, well, everything.

http://uweboll.com/ his website, although I fear its down.

Yea, it's down.... it was awesome though. Someone just took his name, made it into a url, and left it at a text message with "Please stop making movies".
