Ty for answer and if You do not mind some memories from my Ravenloft 1:
- The final battle was so easy that I was surprised to kill the vampire lord for 30-60 seconds. Yes! It hits my Fighter with 3-4 blasts and then jumped in position not before me..Ha ha.. I enjoyed to try all my weapons..Suddenly the opponents jumped before me and then humble but brave yoga crashed with one shot of my super weapon. Voila...More over there is a chance to reload meters after the door and again beat lord..
MHO is that the golem before final location is more, more strong that its boss.
Yes. The first golem was beaten with:
27 arrows, 10 daggers, 50 times with the special hurling axe and blue-shape dagger, then 10 Ice Storms magics, 10 fireballs, 20 Magic missiles from safe distance and was still alive. At last I enter in direct physical contact with this golem.. Can You imagine-it hits my Fighter with 27 AC- only the last my strike with Elven sword finished this creature.
- Very strange case!! - In the final battle I have ONLY one Save port to save my game !?! Never in my game life I was seen similar case. Yes, the other save ports were empty or the letters simply gone away. Fantastic!!! You remember?
- No bugs in my game. Only 1-2 times some Ice storms refused to act..
- Ah, Menzoberranzan was finished 5-6 years ago. Nice game too.
About characters import maybe I will prefer to use the default heroes.
Why, yoga?
Because they are hybrid characters and for me is more interesting to try with Mage/Fighter and Cleric/Ranger - like..
I meet a little hardware problem:
Because of circumstances beyond my control I am forced to move 100 miles away my location and use a laptop.. (I hate laptops- Why?- I have 22" monitors in my home network of 4 Pcs but now must use 15.4" laptop monitor. And when I used Alt+Enter my monitor image becomes awful - colors mixed and is impossible to game). So I return to this f...d small monitor image and pleasure of gaming is lost forever..
Rats!!
Maybe some experienced mate will be so polite to help me..

I recall a couple of bugs like my notes disappearing from the maps, losing items I stored in an empty house, etc. But I do not recall a problem with saving in the final battle. Yes, the final battle was not too difficult. I do not recall the golem though.

I am actually a laptop video gamer.... oh, since 2002 I suppose. I currently do not own a desktop Over here it's about 26-34C. Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, a bit of Puppy Linux... but mostly Ubuntu.

I am with 2 Cleric/Rangers and Mage/Fighter.
Actually Mage/Fighter is main soldier.
I like the magics Hold Monster and use against nasty Manscorpions..
I am in Obelisk - have to collect 3 pieces more of some paper.
I am little upset to fight non stop in dark halls.
This game is little more fightful and many desert taste.

Remark: Mandriva, Mandrake is my first Linux.

Why do You smile at my desktop PCs?
But they are powerful and new mashines..

I am able to use Mac and PC laptops now..

Small off problem: My nice white persian cat with diff. eyes color is entering last 20 days before maturing.. The Q is?

One thing I remember from Ravenloft series, if your character dies in battle, it is better to reload previous save game file rather than resurrecting him/her, because resurrected character loses 1 CONSTITUTION (if I remember correctly).

Oh, I am not laughing at your desktop. I am laughing at myself for not having a desktop At work I still use desktop, but only laptop at home.

Currently I am playing Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader. The game started out very promising. Excellent choice of NPCs, great background music, lots of quests. Too bad the game is reduced to mere tedious (and not much fun) hack and slash after leaving Barcelona Anyway, I am in the final portion of the game now. Should finish it in the next several days.

This with many snakes. And Isu (woman) greeted our party at entrance..
Team: A thief, Cleric/Ranger, Mage/Fighter and Cleric/Ranger.

With this party I at least reach the balance of my actions and I am able to control the situation.
I overcome the main problem - party member poisoning..It is easy with Cleric magics: Having 2 Clerics with 4 magics Neutralize poison, the enemies' attacks are under control.
..And of course valuable Hold Monster - Mage' 5-level magics.
Anyway, this battling in dark premises is .. let say.. not so good as outdoor battles in green fields of Ravenlof and/or roads..
The Russians will said: There are no friends in taste..
I am in the middle of the game..

Small note:
The final act of lurking Ahnkenpot was no, no easy at all.
-Why, yoga?
Because I was attacked from 3 Stone Golems . They are very strong.
But even with one alive member of 4-members team I escape the desert and finished the game..
