Something else came to my mind.
Look at the properties of your network card (hardware settings). Turn off RSS if there is such an option.

I think we should work this out!
Did you try to add both to a new equal workgroup? Did you try the shortcut "Set up a small network" in the networking menu? Can you ping the desktop via the laptop? Wi will nott rest until sis is zorted out!!!!!1111
