Hm. I got kicked out of office after invading Estonia to keep it part of the Bloc. It was my 3rd last republic (other then Georgia and Latvia)

The other 2 republics weren't even threatening to leave though, so all was good. I guess people didn't like me trying to keep Estonia in.

Wow, you got kicked out just for that? Picky, picky.

Actually, I'm surprised it was Georgia and (some of) the Baltics that were the last to go in your game, since that's kind of the opposite of how it happened in real life and how it typically happens in the game. Did you do something special to keep them?

not that i remember, but my economy was in good condition, which is why i think they stayed, cause in the start of the game your economies quite rough, which doesn't help the republics stay

Please,

some help on how to trigger the events. I mean, if you do not want to start a new it is okay, but I would like to know how to put all/most events in.

Default Triggering Events

DRL, it looks like Ismail on the revleft forum has done some tinkering with the RESULTS.DAT file and found that it controls when events take place (and controls the consequences of the choices you make). People have commented that there are events mentioned in the various DAT files that never seem to take place, and they appear to be effectively turned off in RESULTS.DAT. See Ismael's entry on RESULTS.DAT for information about how to modify it.

He's also created a mod (linked to from there) that re-enables events for 1989-91. I tried it out last night, but didn't see anything new. But then, I played a bunch of short games 'cause I kept getting bounced out of office, so I'm not sure if I ever actually reached 1989.

At some point I might have to experiment and create a mod that enables all the events, if I can ever really decipher and understand how the file works. Or maybe someone with more time on his hands can look into it?

The hardest part might be figuring out how to enable some of the "R + 9999" items, since that seems to indicate they're triggered by specific events--and we might not be able to do much without access to the source code to see what could trigger them. Also, "R + 400" seems to have special meaning as well, since numerous lines in there are set to that--and at least one of them, the miners' strike, I've seen occur just a few turns into the game...so R+400 can't mean it goes off on turn 400.

In the meantime I'm working on my own mod, changing other .DAT files to correct spelling errors and typos (like misspelling commissar, for instance), and fixing other boo-boos like the hardliner's inaugural speech where he says that "any who would cast us down in these troubled times must remember that a people who can survive the siege of Stalingrad will surrender." (from GORMSG1.DAT)

Default Obscure Crises

By the way, has anyone ever experienced any of the following crises?
  • Rumanian invasion of Moldavia
  • Lithuania demands cession of Kaliningrad
  • God calls you
  • Rumania & Hungary fight over Transylvania
  • Ukraine demands Black Sea Fleet
  • Ethnic strife in Latvia
  • Slovakia tries to secede from Czechoslovakia
  • Carbombed embassy

Wow, I played Ismail's mod last night and got a whole bunch of those crises, none of which I think I'd seen before. In fact, I saw all of those just above, except:
  • God calls you
  • Rumania & Hungary fight over Transylvania
  • Carbombed embassy
It was refreshing seeing new crises come up! Though I wonder if now they'll pop up in every game. That wouldn't be too good either.

Edit: I saw the Transylvania conflict last night. It happened somewhere around 1994 I think. So, so far just the God and car bomb issues haven't come up.

1B1 is the second cell in the row starting with 1B0.
