well then it behaves like normal cd in dos. so you change letter to drive where you mounted it, dir excutables, install it... of course don't forget to mount some hard drive too

Ummm...
I now have two questions; (1) DOES the Abandonia version run w/sound? I can get it to run via DosBox, but not with sound. (2) How do you apply the patch to the .iso version? It won't run and I've now burnt it to two different CDs, so I'm thinking I probably need the patch to get it to work, but I don't know how to apply the patch to a burnt CD!...
Thanx for your assistance. |

2: need more info.
OS? Mount lines? Did you install the game IN dosbox? Did you use imgmount to mount the ISOs directly in dosbox? (BTW: No need to burn the CDs ....) And: did you at least take a look at the tutorials ...? I don't think so.

Well, I just burnt the .iso to a CD (that's what I thought I was supposed to do) and I am now able to get it to run direct from the CD, so it DOES play, no DosBox necessary. But I still don't have sound and that was the whole reason I downloaded the .iso! I ran disc.bat and THOUGHT I'd configured it for Soundblaster, but there's no sound whatsoever and I can't get it to ask for my settings again! Do I need to copy the files onto the computer and run it using DosBox? And when I DO use DosBox, I use the drag and drop method; I HAVE read all the tutorials on how to use it via the commands and it's like another language, no matter how many times I read it.
And my computer is Win XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3. I'm guessing it comes with Soundblaster Pro? |

You need to mount:
1)A virtual C 2)the CD as D in dosbox (or mount the ISO with imgmount as D , highly recommended) Then install the game from D on C in dosbox The game must be launched from C Again, read the tutos PLEASE. http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/forumdisplay.php?f=90 [Edit] Don't think so, will most probably be AC97 soundchip, not that it matters, dosbox emulates a SB16/Pro/Awe almost perfectly.

OK, will do. I just didn't know it HAD to use DosBox, as I've burnt and run a lot of .iso's as if they were store-bought CDs and assumed this was the same. *sigh* Guess there's a LOT I just don't know...but WILL learn. Thanx a lot.
