I used to love this game- I have the CD-ROM, but it works on ME and not XP. The best parts are creating robots (use nuclear test on a nanotech age city), having a planetary exodus (use monolith on a nanotech age city) and destroying the entire planet (kill all life with natural disasters and wait until timescale reaches 5 billion- you get a message saying that your planet's sun has exploded). Also, for some reason the game always crashed when robots became intelligent, and I noticed that carnivorous plants appear as animals- has anyone got them to hang around enough to become intelligent?
[/b]

ZOMG, there I thought, for years, that I was the only one that discovered that game had androids as a life-being. I mean, hell, it's not even recorded in the manuals, help files or index of content!

After my game crashed I could never get the robots back.

Carnivorous plants are easy to cultivate and raise them to be sentient. All you need to do is destroy all life-forms on earth and then add insects in. The plants will soon grow from the insects.

have tried running this on xp using dosbox 0.65 seemed to install okay when I used the setup.bat, but when I tried to run i got the following error..

FATAL ERROR: PROGRAM ABORTED
FALLOC NOMEM 0:_fmalloc(0)

I haven't used DOS in many many years, or sim earth for that matter, but don't remember coming across this one.

What do I have to do to make it work?

You might want to check out the official DosBox FAQ, and particularly this part of it. It is quite helpful for users unfamiliar with DosBox.

I suggest you also read the pages about command line, internal programs (very important!) and the config file.

If that stuff is a bit too much for you, you might consider using one of the multiple frontend programs available.

It's all easier then it seems. So remember:
DON'T PANIC!!!

The uploaded version is the Windows (3.x) Edition.

Should work in XP
