1. Smdy showed off by saying "pinnace+skill = victory". HAH! I'd like to see that guy attacking Cartagena from sea on the Swashbuckler level or, for that matter, combatting pirate hunter on a frigate. The reason both are impossible is 'cuz no matter how good you are at navigation and gunnery one hit - u'r dead. Now, it IS possible to become very good at avoiding cannon blasts, but that means a lot of maneuvers and, since the battle map is very limited, u ALWAYS either get hit because of getting too close or u sail too far away and the hunter safely takes one of your ships away.
2. Swordplay. Guyz, C'MON, it is plain IMPOSSIBLE to win in a fight when manpower of the enemy is 2.5 times+ than yours, whichever weapon u use (Of course, I'm talking only 'bout highest difficulty level here). So, getting back to that pinnace stuff, I'd very much like to see how would that guy would conquer any Spanish port with garrison 250 soldiers and higher with 64 pirates on board.
3. Ur party has more than 350.000 gold, the game goes nutz. A bug, sadly. Don't forget to divide the plunder regularly.
4. Here, thankfully, it's possible to achieve the highest rank without spending ur life in searching for family members. Just get all the ranks from every nation, status of "extremely wealthy", no wounds and "daring and bold captain" reputation - bingo, u'r king's advisor.
5. U, actually, can save in any town if u marched (not sneaked) into it. Since, EVERY single town will eventually let you in (just try several time the option "march into the town", it will for a number of times "fire at you" but they'll obviously get tired of it and open the gates after all. Oh, and do this from land! ), the game turns out to be pretty easy and safe to play.
6. The best part is that u can play as pirate-hunter. U catch a bunch of pirates - u bring them to governor of the corresponding closest(!) colony) - u get ranks and land.
7. and final. "Wit and Charm" is totally and absolutely useless. Dot.

Aye, great game, but I preffer the Pirates Gold

Same here. Better graphics there and nice music, too. Although Pirates! Gold has it's own bug, too. It's when you save, and if you load the game later after you restart the game, it crashes forever and appears to be ruined.

Never noticed that one... I've mine on CD and it always failed to crash (love both versions, but prefer some stuf in the original).

This game sucks. I just defeated a guy who gave me a map to find my sister right? Afterwards, it asks me which country I want to give control of the town to...

BUT...

I can't choose one 'cause it froze up. What's with every game I get from here being freakin' awesome untill I get a lame bug that ruins the whole experience for me? :not_ok:

I don't know, but maybe your computing skills are the ones that SUCK (your attitude obviously does)?

These are OLD games that were made for MS-DOS (an old operating system, that's not generally used anymore). This may cause problems and that's the bueaty of this site - we try to give advice on how to fix those problems. But usually people are a bit more polite when coming here with a problem about a game. :ranting:

So, to help you any further, you need to tell us what OS you're using, if you're using any emulators (etc.).

And yeah brah, I know what DOS is, you don't have to explain it to me. I'm surprised you didn't tell me what a "computer" is.

Also, if I had asked for helped, I would've provided the information needed. However, I asked for no help. I was just commenting on how lame it is that little bugs can ruin otherwise great games.

Take your 'Big brother with a helping hand' crusade somewhere else, as my post was merely a statement, and not a plea for help.

Heh, funny. Calm down, you two. Bugs exist in every game so that's nothing unusual, and it's neither a fault of this site that the games have bugs.

Yeah I love this site, I was just cryin' over the fact I put a good 45 minutes into accomplishing something to have it pissed away.
