Hired guns with dosbox under linux.
Same problem for me : music at the beginning, but no sound effects while playing. I created sb/SB16/DRV folder with ct-voice.drv and ctvdsk.drv inside but no sound effect. ctvdsk.drv is an idea found there :

Which file did you use exactly ? Do you have a download link or could you attach that file ?
