I think I may have finally found my Linux distro: Manjaro. So far no crashes/freezing unlike on other distros. The UI has some minor annoyances but I can live with them (for example, the mouse cursor theme changes randomly back to the default theme).
EDIT: I spoke too soon. Still no crashes like in Ubuntu for example but lots of bugs. It seems that updates can break things in Manjaro just like in Arch Linux.
After some updates SVGA games in DOSBox stopped working, sound doesn't work if I'm running a Java application, WLAN stopped working, ...
Guess it's time to go back to Windows, or maybe I'll try some other Linux distros.
