Well I remember Donald Duck's Playground - You played Donald who had to do some odd jobs to collect money - to make a playground for his nephews... The game you described sounds similar - so it's probably a sequel.
The other game does sound like Super Mario Brothers (jumping on mushrooms and fighting King Kupa - that's the name right?).
