Wow I thought I finally found it when I first saw the PC-booter screens of Solomon's Key, but it wasn't the right one after all
It's incredibly similar though, at least graphics-wise, except for the annoying background. I think the game I'm looking for had a black/dark calm background, surely not that confusing.
I couldn't find any games based on Beebop, I can't really say I've heard of him at all actually
