1. MrFlibble: Oh yeah, I completely forgot about those. Still, they were made with Game Maker, so they go in the "free but not open-source" pile. Not that they aren't enjoyable or anything (personally I'd rank them sub-GTA3 in all of their departments, plus the vehicle handling in II is twitchy and the vehicle handling in III suggests that all of the cars have weird tires), it's just that those aren't what I'm looking for.
2. Twillight: I'm totally familiar with what an engine is, but yeah, I guess I'm just looking for an already-made game, then. Still, that brings me back to my original problem: I don't know of a game that fits all of (or most of) my extremely restrictive criteria.
