I'm not sure if you're aware of these titles but there are remakes of Privateer and Star Control 2 released as freeware...
I can't speak to Privateer, but I know for a fact that the Star Control 2 remake has not been made or released, yet. All they've done on that website you link to is release packages of the music from the game.
