Well, I think that the problem is in the choice of the weapon you make. Like in Freelancer. Different gun for a hull and different to destroy the ship's shielding systems. Try to talk with the guy in the ship store. He will tell you about different types of arsenal.
And anyway...where is the solution announced in the "brilliant" review?
