Windows XP Pro
I have 128Mb RAM
700Mhz AMD duron
S3 graphics card with 16Mb(yay) memory.
You should REALY concider getting Win2k instead or even better WinME (If windows at all), since on your system WinXP itseft is the greatest slowdown of them all.
That you even manage to run XP w/o too much trouble is amazing.
128 MB ram is a killer with that CPU and XP.

Look.. i know this isn't the answer realy for you, but: Install something ELSE then winXP and you WILL be able to run DosBox more smoothly.

Option 2: Get another 128 mb module, and XP should be more cooperative.

Option 3: Use partitionmagic to split off a resonale large section, and run a dual-boot with Win98/95 (if you have a copy around).

Your problem is: Your OS is too heavy for the system to handle the emulation of a second OS.

Question: What kind of HD(s ?) do you have?
