Looks bad for me. And IDE standard is mostly dead now anyway.
Do you have possibility to change your HDD for SATA one? Or it would mean to replace whole system?
Anyway, it seems that you definitely need new IDE cable. Like
this one, for example. (They are still must be around you aplenty, check your local stores and repair firms.
