Hummm, is there some nationality settings associated with the game? Like, is it a game from Japan or China which require some special font? Perhaps you only need to set your nationality setting to something else under Windows (tough I'm fairly sure it's not the problem).
I try to think about a similar problem which may have happened to me before but unfortunatly I have no clue.
Posting a screenshot would help me tremendously here if it is possible for you to do.
My best bet would be a graphical twich because of incompatible graphic drivers... But this in itself doesn't mean and help much.
