"Yeah, I learned owning a PC business that you can intimidate people pretty easily by talking over their heads. You find a certain medium where they'll agree with anything you say just to not appear dumb. It's a sales strategy and an example of social engineering: if you control the flow of information, you're in control of the conversation."

i found this interesting. this is soooo true. this guy has some serious smarts.

About it being fake...it's possible, but you are speculating.

First, the intelligence of the "kid" is irrelevant to whether the story is true. There are hordes of idiots on the internet, and the continued "user-friendly" trend will continue to fill its ranks.
Secondly, It could have been an automatic defence mechanism for this man to marshal a counter offensive. He could obviously tell from the grammar that this "kid" was full of ****, causing him to pounce on the oppertunity. I believe when some people attack, they usually leave an opening, and when people move with precieved initiative, they feel a psycological advantage real or not. If this is broken then the counter offensive can be very advantageous, as this example illustrates.
Lastly, if this did happen, perhaps he did it to teach this person a lesson. Plain and simple. He claims afterwards that he did relinquish control of the account. I would think that it would be a bad idea to hold onto the account anyways, as valve could then trace the man down through it if the boy did complain.

Sure it could be a fake, but I'm willing to accept it's authenticity until proven otherwise.
