Japo told it all, but I'll add: not all games on Abandonia are full official releases (check ISO cellar for this). So it can miss some "common" components that was supposed to be there at the moment of release. Like DirectX components, WinG libraries, etc. So yes, give us error message, and we'll see what it can mean.
