Seriously, I would simply start the game in 0.74, as it works for you, as simplest solution.
Old DosBox notes also suggests to install patch. Check patches here.
Also, explanation of the bug available here. My (little) computer knowledge translate it as "there are several errors in code, fixed by patch, and one of them crashes DOSBox if processor supports it. 386 in DOSBox-0.74 isn't, so set core to 386 fixes this particular problem". Obviously, 0.74-2 changed it. And patch is recommended anyway.  |
Okay.... So I re-installed .74. I tried the usual cputype/mounting. Didn't work. I got out my old laptop, and strangely, it did work (old laptop is running .74). At this point I have no idea what's going on.
