There's a beta patch which gives Worms Armageddon compatibility with Windows 2000 and XP.
Go to
http://wormsarmageddon.team17.com/ and get the official 3.0 patch and the beta patch (currently 3.6.22.1). Apply the official patch first, then the beta patch, and it should run fine.
