I did this ages ago, but I gess nothing changed:
Run Command Prompt and go in directory with Golden Axe
type: copy hero.spr hero1.spr
copy chicken.spr hero.spr
you will be asked do you want to overwrite hero.spr and answer with "Y"
now run the game and choose man (not amazon girl or dwarf) and you will play as that chicken dragon that hits with his tale. No enemy can hit you so you just use your tail and you'll finish the game easily.
When you want to bring back normal palying, just copy hero1.spr hero.spr (copy back hero)

Yea I loved doing that. I did that file copying probably ~12 years ago now and went through all the files to see what I could play as. I particularly liked playing as one of the large armoured guys with the huge sword. That had a nice reach.
