From what that guy posted, I gather it was a new game, and for Windows, so it's probably not the early
Warlords games (although the description fits them for the most part). Also, IIRC individual units can't cast spells in
Warlords games.
It's also not
Age of Wonders or
Disciples series games, as someone suggested in another forum.

The game in question is not 3D. Also, the new
King's Bounty titles have
HoMM-like hero party movement, whereas the game in question has individual unit movement, like in
The Battle for Wesnoth.
