Even though I'm a newbie here, I'd like to backup Professor Oak on the recommendation of 4Shared. I have about 125 GB of files uploaded there spread among 15 free accounts and the oldest files are over 2 years old. I have only once had the files from a couple of accounts deleted; this was before they upgraded the free accounts to 10 GB of space (maybe they lengthened their time for auto-deletion as well, I don't know).
This may help those whose files are being deleted quickly. Obfuscate your file names (i.e. name them something else than what they contain).
