I know there is a way to repair scratched cd's. Seach a little in computer stores and ask there, you should be able to find something which "rebuild" your cd if it's only slighly scratched. It may be some kind of wax or something which fill the tiny gaps the scratches make, I'm not sure... But I'm sure some stuff exist for that.

That stuff works by resurfacing the CD with a mild abrasive. In doing so, scraches are eliminated (or at least reduced) by wearing down the entire surface of the disc. Using wax or another substance to fil in the scratches would screw up the optics.
