I find that quite scary in-and-of itself. WoW is a video game just as the original Warcraft is a video game. For anyone to die over either should be equally incomprehensible. They're *dirty word* video games. While I'm not trying to single you out specifically, McGroin, I'd think you should find it rather unsettling that you can understand someone dying over one game yet not another.
Yes, MMORPGs have psychological effects. Sure, we don't yet know exactly what those effects are. Regardless, we aren't talking about chemically induced behavioral modification, we're talking about a self-control issue. For someone to die over a video game is no different than someone dying over a sporting event or a verbal disagreement: in all cases it's senseless.
