A bit an overkill, don't ya think?
The times we had only 200/250MB HDs is long gone, compressing your
dos backup files is kinda complicating things without any real purpose our days.
Simply write a batch (stored on your dosbox virtual C root) and copy the whole thing.
You even can in a simply matter use the copy/rename command to keep some 2-3 (or a 100 .... LMAO) numbered backups.
