If they seem to be going down the road where they think that each report is a problem with the platform it was run on, rather than a global issue, and if my platform has the problem but seems to be atypical in some way... Then I think it's even more important that I let them know.

If the powers-that-be don't want a ton of whiny, complainy posts, then it is up to them to set the tone, and keep people informed what's going on. The point at which they've decided that it's really a global problem is critical and they should advertise it unequivocally. That way people won't be in must-convince-these-guys-the-problem-isn't-me mode.

Maybe even say "thanks for the reports", once in a while.

Anyhow, when the banner-ad at the top came back, the problems all went away for me, as far as I can tell. I'm the IE8/no adblocker guy.
