As an owner of the original game, I remember that it came with a book called
"What Happened When?" that could be used to find the answer to every clue in the game. I don't remember if it also came with an instruction manual, but this book is where the promotion clues are telling you to look. Seeing as how the book is nearly 1500 pages, I doubt you'll be able to find a scan of it anywhere. As a standalone reference book, it's actually pretty good (not that people use such books anymore).
