Soundblaster Live! uses a PCI slot and has a very good backwards compatibility for Ms-Dos with Soundblaster 16, though sometimes small sound issues with few games depending on computer it's installed on. It has drivers for emulating Soundblaster 16 in Ms-Dos provided on it's original drivers / installation CD, which are also usually automatically installed in Windows 95 / 98 / 98SE.
I think there was also a PCI version of Soundblaster 16 available.
