Kon-Tiki was first banned, if my memory serve right, because he was an admin/updater at the time and he abused the power entrusted to him by deleting a fair amount of files directly at the server when an issue went in an opposite direction than his liking.
It was already a very fair decision not to ban him outright when he decided to make his come back... And all he did was raise trouble. The decision to ban him was left to Data (or Titan?), and with the previous paragraph I guess that you understand why those veteran admins didn't take long to push the red button.
I fail to understand why there is even a need for an explanation here. Not everything going in the mod/admin forums need to be known by "normal" users... It only create more drama, something I believe a lot of people said they would want to see greatly reduced as of late...
