Small humanoid creatures that live in the Underground, they dwell underneath the station-platforms and the service shafts. The government is hoping that - by restricting their diet to rats - they'll all die sooner or later. However, they can also crawl to the surface by digging upwards, and so they steal fruit and vegetables, hence it has become illegal to grow fruit and vegetables in the soil.
