Star Control 1 and
2 had the Ariloulaleelay (or something).

Star Control 2 had you sending a little rover down to planets (often very hostile planets) to pick up minerals and other things;
Star Control 1 (aka
Star Control) did not. The screenshot a1s posted is from
Star Control 2, just to be clear. Borodin is right, though: you start near the lower-left corner of the starmap in
SC2, unless your monitor is upside-down.
