Ahhhhhh...Space Invaders. Im sure though, like many others, the ORIGINAL Space Invaders wasnt the first taste I had of this game. No not at all, I came across it in a rather more pitiful version on the old ATARI 2600 which had even bigger chunkier graphics. It wasnt until I started getting some retro compilations for the PS1/PS2 that I did play the ORIGINAL Space Invaders and its successors and boy was that an eye opener, MUCH better then the old WOODY console version. Anyone who has also compared the WOODY version of PACMAN with the arcade game will concur, there are so many different versions out there of these classic games.

I am sorry to see that some folk on here have been knocking the game, whilst Im all for constructive criticism I feel all you youngsters doing so are missing the point. This site is all about CELEBRATING the old games we know and love and you HAVE to play them in their historical context, we all know that compared to their modern day counterparts they look and play very basic but hey...before games like this we had NOTHING in the way of computer gaming, we compared them to TIDDLYWINKS, SNAKES AND LADDERS and NOT PS2s (cue annoyed responses from TIDDLYWINK fanatics).

For some Im sure it will be such a blessed relief just to be able to jump straight into a game and play, learning it in seconds....Ive still got a huge pile of PS2 games to play cos I aint got the time to read the instructions, watch all the intro movies etc etc etc...oh the blessed relief of just loading and playing STRAIGHT AWAY.

Oh those sounds and sideways moving little beggers bring back SOOOO many memories..... k:
