Has anybody tried that? Run windows xp with 64 mb ram? It's really... interesting...
I'm just curious :P (I'm odd, I know) |
It' pretty bad idea, actually. Anything would be very slow loading because Windows XP would use the harddisk as an additional source of memory, and that one slows the system pretty down. Actually minimal requirement for Windows XP is 256 MB RAM, with 512 being much better and 1 GB being perfect. ;)

Nope, but I ran Win98 with 8MB Ram!
|
For that one is also 16 MB minimal and 32 very good. ;)

Well, the fish-looking computer man at school who took my computer said that mine was the second computer he'd ever seen that ran windows xp on 64 mb ram :P
I was gonna buy more ram yesterday, but I have to special order it from the States <_< *sigh* |
Need my 256 MB DDR 266 RAM? It remained from the beginning when I bought the new PC, but I have faster and more RAM now, so I don't need it. :bye:

I would give you my processor (Athlon 1800+ XP) and 256MB RAM just for cable connection! *Keeps mumbling: "I hate modems, I hate modems!"*
|
I never had 64 mb. in my life I had a 8mb pc. then upgraded it to 16mb, a 32mb pc, and 256 mb pc.
|
I run a win98PC with 64MB ram and that's just doable, I don't even think of installing XP on that crappy PC... :P
|
My brother just installed WinXP on a P1 166 Mhrz with 64MB and he said it ran but not well. He put in an extra 128MB of RAM and ran nicely but he did turn a lot of the axtra's (graphical extra's) off. XP is a very good platform. Much better then WinME in any case.
