HOLY CRAP. I went to a concert of theirs of Thursday. Victor Wooten is by far the best bassist ever.

Who?

He started playing bass when he was three, and professionally when he was six. If you put his name into google video, you can see a clip of him playing Amazing Grace all on harmonics that is truly awe-striking. I downloaded a bunch of his stuff and I just think "There's no way ONE man can be playing that many notes w/o layering" but he does. Best examples are "Classic Thump" and "Me and my Bass Guitar" I recently bought his music book and have been learning his techniques. He also has fully detailed lessons on his website. I  Victor Wooten! |
He has techniques but does he have a soul?
No. He has no soul. He's THAT good. My brother and I have a lot of the Flecktones' CD's, and they are amazing.
So you mean he's good like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are good on the guitar?
No. He's not AS good. He far surpasses them.
So he's like a robot? Plays perfectly but without any "feeling"?
No. Plays perfectly in every aspect. The man is a god.
Personally I hate Vai and Satriani. I know Bela Fleck (They played few years ago in Warszaw on WSJD - Warsaw Summer Jazz Days) and i liked them. But, day later, I heard Critters Buggim on the same festival, and I forgot about Bela :tai: Give a try to Buggim ...
