Why not just have a pinned topic at the top to serve all the birthday needs, instead of making a new topic or two daily?

Blood-Pigggy 28-09-2005 12:20 AM

Wow.
And no one suggested this before?

I definatly agree.

I definatly agree.

Been suggested and discussed many times and every time the conclusion was to keep it as it is.

Blood-Pigggy 28-09-2005 12:25 AM

And the reasoning behind that is?
If we keep making new ones, then there'll be a huge trail of Birthday topics.
Unless someone can explain to me why this isn't a better idea than the current way of things, I won't really understand.

Ummm.. 3xBlah doesn't generate post-count, and having 10.000 topics is not a biggie? ;)

Blood-Pigggy 28-09-2005 12:40 AM

I just thought it looked kinda cluttered with all the different topics.
It might make it sexier if there's only one. :sneaky:

Or maybe it'll make it easier for people that have arthritis so bad it's painful to move the mouse.

I think we decided that since they only stay around for a day or two, they are fine to keep. It's also kind of nice to get a thread once a year that is completely and absolutely dedicated to you. :D

Release the egos!

A lot of the reason why this idea was suggested was becuase it'd be like, "Oh, so it's you're birthday, well join the club". The separate topics system we have now allows everyone to share their birthday wishes and they sink to the bottom in a day or two.

Yeah a general happy-birthday topic doesn't really work as convincing as a 'specially dedicated to ...' topic. I agree it's a nice, short-life-topic gesture :)
