Can a software of this kind can ever be developed? Bcoz DVD-ROM uses some advanced techniques and CD-ROM uses different, with both having different diameters. But still I ask, is this possible in near future? Bcoz when we can have softwares to create virtual CD-ROMs and so more! But all things are mostly software related and this requires hardware! DVD-ROMS and CD-ROMS are different! So please tell me, is this possible in future to have some special technique to read DVD-ROMS from CD-ROMs or is this impossible?
Please also give links to websites, if you know, which deals with such kinds of things! Thanx |
I think that's impossible, because to read a DVD you need a laser ray with a wavelenght shorter than the CD reader one! This isn't a software problem!

by definition, if it was a cdrom drive that could read dvd's, it would be called a dvd drive.
 |
It is physically impossible! the lens on a cd-rom/rw drive cannot read a dvd disc bcus the lense cannot be focused enuf
|
But you can get CD-RW that can also play DVDs. ;)
Old drives can't, as someone already mentioned because of hardware problems. |
Im talkin abt a cd-rw drive or a cd-rom drive not a cd-rw/dvd-rom drive other wise it will play dvds (or aught to as the case may be)
