First of all I'd like express how happy I am to have found an abandonware site that has both Laura Bow 2 and Police Quest 4 for download. I'm also very happy with the way your files are named. I have a huge collection of old games on my hard drive, but I have no clue what many of them are, since I was too lazy to name them properly when I first downloaded them, so it's nice when files are actually named properly when you download them.

With that out the way, I'd like to suggest a keyword feature similar to the on ethey have at HOTU. Let's face it, computer games are categorised mainly by the way they're played and not by the setting/mood of the game, like movies for instance.

It's not that important for a small site with only a handfull of games to choose from, but abandonias collection is growing rapidly, and when at some point (hopefully) you have thousands of games, users may not be inclined to look through all of the adventure games to find that specific scifi-horror adventure game they remember playing 15 years ago, but can't remember the title of.

I realise that this may take quite a bit of work from whoever has to do it, so feel free to disregard me. It's just a suggestion, but it would enhance the site a lot in my opinion.

Could you be more specific as to what the "keyword feature" is?

They call them themes at HOTU. It's basically just a different way of categorizing games. Usually games are categorized as adventure, strategy, sports, etc. as is the case on this site. By using these themes they'll be categorized as sci-fi, fantasy, whodunnit, post apocalyptic, and so on. It's important to note that these categories shouldn't replace the existing ones, but merely supplement them.

That way a game like Space Hulk would be sci-fi strategy game and a game like Colonels Bequest would be a whodunnit adventure. You get the idea.

I'm not saying it should be done excactly as HOTU does it, but it is a good idea, that would help people find excactly the game they feel like playing, or at least narrow it down.

As I said it's not very important right now, but the more games this site makes available the more time you have to spend browsing through all the adventure games, for instance, to find the ones that appeal to you, and I believe a system like this would help making that easier.

well if this is put true I know one thing the guy that categorizes the games in the alternative categories will have to do a lot of work. A sure candidate to get a vip pass :bannana:

It still will be Kosta's call though :)

True and true. It's Kosta decision and someone has to step up and actually do it, and I suspect it's a lot of work.

I also agree that it can wait untill there are at least a thousand reviewed games on the site, but on the other hand the workload will be smaller the sooner it's done. After that it's just a matter of doing it for each new game that's uploaded.

it would be quite simple just need a few odd catagories like

cyberpunk
open ended(aka.freelance)
huge
etc

also a cool idea sort the games by reviewer so people can look up a reviewer and find all the games they have reviewed :)
