1980s sci-fi platformer
=== HARDWARE ===
Played it around 1989 on zx spectrum or less probably on IBM XT. I've seen screenshot of this game played on some old macintosh some time ago. Screenshot was monochrome i suppose. Personally i had a monochrome display that days. I think the game was released in 1980-1986. === GAME FEATURES === It is platformer. You play cosmonaut. You have a weapon that looks like a spotlight if fired. It does not strike very far. Initial ammo is 999. It's counter is in the lower part of the screen. You have enemies that can be described as robots. Some of them looked like whirligig. === ONE COMPLEX THING I REMEMBER === If you play some minutes you'll get to the row of pins striking from the ground. Around 20 pins. They strike with the same sequence every time. But they strike fast and the sequence is complex so you have a very low chance to pass. You can turn them off somewhere but not all at once. I could not overcome this obstacle as i was 4-5 y.o. but my father could switch it off almost completely and overjump few pins that were still operating. |
Try The Arc of Yesod/Nodes of Yesod, Exolon, The Ice Temple, Universal Hero. They don't completely fit your description, but you can try.

None of this

Could you be thinking of the ZX Spectrum version of Turrican? It has a time counter at the bottom of the screen next to the ammo counters, and while it starts at 500 in most versions, it begins at 999 in the Spectrum version.
