surfing on IMDB (highly recommendable movie database, by the way!) i just noticed
an announcement that alone in the dark, a very nice computer game most probably
known to many of you, is going to be presented in cinema theatres, soon.
i couldn't find out much about the story, except for christian slater will be starring
as private investigator edward cornby - the character you are playing in the game.

have a look at the website, it's quite well made and contains some information about
the movie.

its probably going to be another sub-standard horror movie that turns out to be more like a comedy

BrokenAngel 23-01-2005 12:21 PM

i just hope it turns out to be a good movie... :guns:

I remember alone in the dark, it was a brilliant game, great fun, let's hope the movie turns out good too, though it is doubtful.

The trailer looks good, but it is only the game in the name.

I hope they don't mess up as they did with resident evil...
Hollywood can't make good movies based on comics or video games very often

Well, Resident Evil was pretty good I think. The second part wasn't that good anymore, again, like it's the case with many movies...
Also keep in mind that today's movies are mostly not that well made as they were earlier. No, not the good old times, it's a fact that the movies today fall down in quality, actually. ;)
So I for my part don't expect that much from Alone in the Dark, but, we'll see.

Anyway, I think Resident Evil could have been so much better with George Romero. Sadly, he left the project because of creative differences. However, you can find Romero's script in some websites.

As far as I can tell, the movie's based on the 2000 version of AITD. I think it was called The Nightmare or something. Hated that one, because it didn't fit in well with the previous storylines. I think it was set in present day.

yes, it's a sad but true fact that most of hollywood's adoptions of games are....
hm, let's say..a little weak! but, however, as aitd was one of my favourite
horror games back then, i'm really interested in the cinematic result!

i've seen resident evil: apocalypse and the only good aspect of it was that
mila jovovic was starring! she is such a *nice* woman :D
