Absolute Zero

The game refuses to work through DosBox.

Problem is that the game has LASERLOK protection which causes problems with DosBox, namely CPU:GRP5: Illegal call 7 error.

I googled it and all I found was this old DosBox article, where someone has similar problems with Tomb Raider. http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?p=158626

Anyone have any ideas how to solve this? I've been looking for this game for years and would really like to be able to play it.

Replace dos4gw.exe in the game folder by dos32a.exe to avoid the laserlok copy protection. Simple as that.

BTW, thank you for the upload Ermuli.

Possibly, but dos32a really speeds things up in dosbox.

Also, just tested, runs even perfect in dosbox 0.73/WinfW

Blast from the past, "PIF" editor.

Additional tip, game uses a lot of space when doing a "full install", so you better set freesize to 500 or so ......

Thought that speed benefit wasn't (that great) anymore in DOSBox 0.73, but didn't benchmark it.
