Victor Vector and Yando The Vampires Coffen in XP

I'm trying to run this game in XP i've tried several ways...the game runs fine but the menu and text is missing when i run it normaly. I try to run it in 256 color and the menu text is there but the color scheme is all messed up. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this game running smoothly?

Right-click executable -> properties -> compatibility.
Set to Windows 95 and 256 colors.
If that didn't help, you'll need either DOSBox or any virtual machine set up with a copy of Windows 3.11.
