Nesbit Ring
That's right, in my very own calculus class a new mathematical construction similar to a Moebius strip was created. It is called a Nesbit Ring after its creator. It can be constructed by getting a strip of paper, tearing it down the middle lengthways for about halfway down the strip, and then gluing one of the strands to the other to form a loop. This strip/ring combo will then have, like a Moebius strip, one side and one edge, but it will also have one vertex.
Can you tell we were bored in calculus? :D |
What.
What's special about a Moebius Strip anyway? It would be more awesome if it were somekind of stripping technique used by strippers, but it isn't. :( |
Yay! Part of my username was included! XD

What?

Spam much?

if you think about the structure of the object, it's exactly just like mobeus strip with more sharp edge at some places (both mobeus strip and this object have only 1 edge too)

Also, I never thought I'd say this, but thank you, russ, for bringing some ACTUAL on-topic discussion to the thread. :p |
What's a vertex?

What's Mathematics? Is something new?
