Abandonia Plug In USA Today Game Forums

Tell me if I should change it in any way. It's a new forum, but it's connected to readers across the entire USA. I only post in forums where the rules allow such posts. I seek these websites out on a daily basis and could copy/paste a final draft, in many web communities.

What happens to a DOS game, when its copyright runs out? FREE games at Abandonia!

That's right, *Abandonia.com 's staff sniff out the old games, we all remember and get the rights to distribute them all over again. The site shows you where to get the leading DOS emulators for free and how they work, to easily play the old classic games. Vista/MAC/XP compatible.

Remember, the Commodore64 games? Win3.1 games? Win95?

Also, those wonderful games, like the beginnings of Final Fantasy, Might And Magic 1,2,3 and 4?
How about, Sid Meier's Civ One, or Secret Agent?
All the old classics are there for the downloading and ITS FREE AND LEGAL!!!

Visit us in the forums where you can discuss or get help about 100's of game classics! Download manuals, read reviews and rate your favorite games of all time!

Join the race of *Abandonians and do not let our egg shaped heads scare you off.

But, watch out for me, because I am a zombie.

Few things.

1. Copyrights don't run out.
2. Abandonia does not exactly "get the rights" to distribute them.
3. It's not legal in the strict sense.

Might want to change the wording a tad.

Simoneer 04-05-2009 05:03 AM

And the Final Fantasy part might be a tad bit missleading; The only FF on here is a fanmade, freeware one.

Geezer: Copyrights do expire after a set period of time.

Yup, after 75 years, if not extended. I doubt that any abandoned game has reached this age yet.

Also, Civ1 is protected, therefore I wouldn't mention it in an advert. People would probably start complaining when they come here for the game and find that it is 'no go'.

Yeah, I wouldn't advertise too noisily, in case ESA notices us (again). :whistling: Abandonware is a grey area. Not actually legal, but no one cares about the software any more as it isn't being sold or supported. So, when I'm about eighty I can play these games with a clear conscience. XD

Would like to request that you remove the post all together for now.

Then start over...

Then think it over once more...

Scrap what you wrote and redo it...

THEN post it.

What in the world made you thin it was legal and the copyrights had expired?
We appriciate that you'r tring to help, but we don't want to misslead ppl.

Also, isn't this site dedicated to classic DOS games?

Chris 04-05-2009 09:25 PM

Cryb, I like your style! :OK:
Some of the things you've written can't be used though, as they are not really true or misleading. Let's do as you suggested and use this as a draft.

I've modified the text to what I think would be possible and also changed some parts to more appropriate expressions (in my opinion).

Changes and additions are welcome!

That's right, *Abandonia.com 's staff sniff out the old games, we all remember and prevents them from rotting in the basement or vanishing into the void of the net. The site shows you where to get the leading DOS emulators for free and how they work, to easily play the old classic games. Vista/MAC/XP compatible.

How about Sid Meier's Pirates, or Secret Agent?

It was deleted shortly after I posted it(about 2 hours). Had a feeling it wasn't a good idea. Absolutely done Titan.

But I did write to my blogs, using Bobbins collaboration. Even the naughty puppy sig.

Not sure if you can view it, but here is the link

Copyright of written material is 75 years. Of course. Patents run out every 17. Don't know what I was thinking there.

No worries guys, I work for these folks. It's just a handful of readers, so far.

EDIT: Don't want to cause any trouble, so I can stop right here. But, if you all have something to agree on, as a final draft, I have 1,000's of readers scattered at social networks, forums, mags, websites and over 1200 subscribed e-mail addresses.
Copy/paste/send several in a matter of hours.

Sorry if I am over zealous.
