Yep, you heard me. I have a disk space problem. There seems to be a so-called System Volume Information folder. And it's BAAAD! It ate 4 GB of my disk space.

Now the real problem:
1. My PC has been attacked with Zinblog spyware... Even when I removed it, I still couldn't access Folder Options, so I can't delete it normally.

2. There's a trojan in there.

3. I'm too impatient for a full time scan with Avast! right now.

4. I deleted system restore, hoping it takes down all those restore points. Didn't work either.

I need professional help! Or any Help!

Even if you do remove those critters, the keys are still in the registry, messing up your pc. I wouldv'e tried system restore, but I see you deleted the restore points.

First: DO a full scan, even if it takes "all day".

Then try to google "Zinblog" and "spyware" and see if there is a solution out there. Often there is one.

Mostly "Spybot - Seach and Destroy" kicks all malware's behind, but you just can get if your connection to the web is still alive.

I'm done with Zinblog. No more. It did leave the aftermath by not letting me access run in start menu and folder options. I have Avast! 4.7 home edition & Ad-Aware SE

Well, there was this one forum that helped me a lot when I had a serious spyware problem. They know how to handle these things in greater detail:

SWI Forums

Hope it helps you too. ^_^

Format C: FTW!

ianfreddie07 22-06-2007 11:51 PM

Re-Format it? Probably i'd reinstall the OS instead.

if i were you and was about to reainstall os, i would also reformat.

by the way i m not sure if i got you right, but you think that 'system volume information' is a directory which you should be able to acces or anything? cause you cant. nor acces, nor delete. the directory comes with windows XP and has properties system and hidden

about the system restore, how did you 'delete' it? cause you need to turn it off, otherwise it will come back. when you come to the window with 'system restore' there should be settings button, and there you can set how much space do you want to spend for your system restore (but few gb is a minimum, depending on your HDD) OR totaly disable it

spyware broke the feature like that and I deleted system restore. I was planning to get a new HD (60 or 80GB) and have my brother's friend install WinXP. We start from square one:

1. Get FireFox
2. Get Ad-Aware SE
3. Choose between Avast!, Kaspersky, AVG & Avira as Antivirus program.
4. PowerDVD, Nero Burning ROM, WinZip & WinRAR
5. A good disk defragmenter (free)
6. Download Accelerator Plus
7. UTorrent
8. Yahoo! Messenger
9. Java, Macromedia Flash 10, Acrobat Reader 7
10. GAMES!

Any other steps?

replace ad-aware with spybot search and destroy and choose kaspersky :P
and you forgot drivers and codecs

btw this defrag tool is nice but its not free
