I just got an email from a friend saying Nelly Furtado and her producer Timbaland have stolen music from the Finnish musician: Janne Suni. Janne Suni has created a song called "Acidjazzed evening". Nelly Furtado and Timbaland used this song for their song "Do it".
The original song by Janne Suni: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtUVC11ba4g The song of Nelly Furtado http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N4ovp90Ea0 And here the two songs analyzed with a song editor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4KX7SkDe4Q And also check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV2fTEeP6GM I just want to share this with you. What do you think of it? |
I don't care

Hm well for her kind of music zero level of creativity is needed, so this doesn't suprise me at all.

Anyway I think it's wrong to steal from artists that don't make money out of music. They always claim that you should pay for music that's made, but when it comes to stealing from a small artist it's ok? Just because they don't have tons of laywers with them? Then they are the biggest pirates of them all! So why pay for your music, they don't pay and even make like millions of dollars with this musics.. You now still think it's fair ? Think of this example : SuperTux, not known to your sister or parents ( majority of the world ), is brought out by EA. They would make milions out of it, just because the game is great. Everybody knows this game then and receives big popularity over the world. Now .. no credits go to the Linux community, no funding or whatsoever. EA even claims that they own the sources of this game ( it just can be downloaded from the sourceforge pages and modified in any way ). EA games has lots of Lawyers that can help them, but who's in for the community. I think you get the drift right now, and this is what happend to the Demoscene community, and it's not the first time it happend. They should get their ... kicked! They just cannot get away with this. Matthijs aka D-Force |
I think last years stupid song for slovenian Eurovision contest was also a rip off from i belive an italian song. when showed the songs nex tto each other they really did sound alike. same was showed on voice analiser.
what does this prove? that we can't even do a shitty song by ourselves. :-) |
I said that for the kind of music that Nelly Furtado plays, there is no creativity needed, so it doesn't surprise me that they steal from other artists.

If you don't care, then don't post anything ! |
D-Force, please do not be so agressive to other users. It gives you a bad first impression.
Personally, I never heard of either the original artist and the "artist" who stole the song. IMO, if anyone stoops so low as to steal others' work and present it as their own, they deserve being drawn and quartered (or mental equivalent of it). |
