Hello !

Each time i have had a LAN party with some friends, we end up playing the same game every time simply because once we're all set up and ready - we can't think of any games.

So - I've always thought about making a list of games that are good for LAN play. ATM I'm looking for games playable by 2 people - this is not a max of course but I'm aiming for LAN games that are good even when you're not in a full room of 20 people playing the same game - therefor FPS games or such with no bots are a no-go for us right now.

Does anyone know any good Co-op games? I've always enjoying team-playing than being solo.

That is not the real question of course; just thought I'd pop that out there as well incase anyone has any game where you team up against the computer in mind. (Seeing how we're only 2 right now.)

But really - What games do you play at LAN's, what are your favourites?
Be it FPS, Stragegi, Racing whatever - It's all good!
Let's make a list!
:)

Me, my brother and some friends have always enjoyed playing System Shock 2 in LAN where everyone specializes in something. The game isn't that intense (scary) or difficult anymore, but it's definetly fun!

Also, there is nothing as hilarious as playing ogre hockey in die by the sword!

I usually play Heroes of Might and Magic 3 & 4.Also , you should try Age of Empires (1,2,3) and Empire Earth.

Usually when we make a LAN ("we" stands for 6-7 or 8 people) we play different titles...

Battlefield 2 and 2142 in co-op

Unreal Tournament 2004

Diablo 2...one year ago..

FlatOut 1-2

We don't play rts games cause they steal too much time...but I love them...

coop games:
Doom 1&2, Heretic, Hexen, Strife, Duke Nukem, Unreal, Quake 1&2.

Diablo 2 is fun too, but you'll probably need a new mouse afterwards.

We usually play Blood, Shadow Warrior, Call of Duty and StarCraft (best game ever) and WarCraft 3 TFT.

HL1 - using Svencoop mod
early versions of DOD (with sturmbot), Counterstrike with a bot and Firearms mode with Marien-Bot

i don't know what OS you are running but there is also Serious Sam (1&2), Ghost recoon, Rainbow warriors series, Need for speed series (as well as Lot's of other racing games some found in abandonia), C&C series, Warcraft 2, Settlers 3 & 4, Delta Force series... plenty of games available for LAN. although some coop require WIN 98, some again require win XP or 2000. So it really depends on what kind of OS you guys have.

there's a home page dedicated to co-op games but i lost the adress, so you should google it.

wiki has an extensive list of "coop" games:

but many are for console or for single computer play (arcades and such).

My personal favorite LAN games:

Soldat
For those who don't know about it, Soldat is a side-view shooter where you choose from ten weapons, four sub-weapons, and then throw down! The bot capability makes it a must for me when I LAN, as I absolutely hate playing with the other guys (there's always one guy who bought whatever game we're playing first, and totally owns us at it. No competition = no fun). And surprisingly, for being free, the game is excessively well-made and unexpectedly intense - try a team of four humans versus ten normal bots for a sure-fire sweaty-palms "holy crap!"-filled match. The weapons are finely balanced (although you will learn to fear the chainsaw), the maps are quite ingenious, and... I could go on for days, guys. Try it.

Rise of Nations
Nothing says "I love you guys" like nuking your human ally's sworn enemies back to the Stone Age and saving your collective empire.

Age of Empires III
I seem to be the only person who loves this game to death, but it makes for a great LAN. The home city aspect of the game adds a fascinating new facet to the tried and true "build, gather, train, attack" formula.

Quake II
Why 2, you ask? Because you don't mess with perfection, son.

Guitar Hero
Not so much a LAN game, but I love breaking out "Bark at the Moon" on Expert and showing those kids what's what.
