I played Traveler pen & paper RPG as a teenager...but only a few nights. It was quiet nice, I never went on being a GM (I think there was lots of calculation to do *sigh*). I was more into other RPGs, Shadowrun (also some calculations!), Warhammer, Call of Cthulhu, the main ones...
I'm definetly gonna try this PC version of the game ;) P.s. - Varg (Vargr) means wolf or wolves ^_^ Again my thumbs up Abandonia! |
In some settings, Vargr is used for werewolves.

It's just me or this Ancients race are the ones from Stargate SG-1?
|
Nice game, although the combat seems a bit cumbersome :( .

"...combat have been greatly simplified, and are fully menu-driven..."
great, I've been looking for some space travelling game without action sequences so I'll definitely try this one... btw, is combat in megatraveller 1 also menu-driven or...? |
So, how exactly do you pick a face? The manual says it's right after naming, but I didn't find it.
|
How hard would it be to solo this game, and it's predecessor? By that I mean, take only a single character. Can you pick up skills along the way?

Not likely, as much material for the Traveller RPG comes from 1978 or so. There are diferences between the Asgard and the Ancients, but telling you them here might spoil your SG-1 viewing or your Traveller play. :) The Ancients were but one of many things to discover and explore in the Traveller universe. One thing that set Traveller apart was the really cool back story, and the Travellers News Service. In the Journal of the Travellers Aid Society, there would be these little news briefs of happenings in other parts of the Imperium. To me, it gave the impression that the hardy band of adventurers that I was a part of was just one small bit of much larger goings on. MT2 captures much of the spirit of the original RPG, and is loads of fun. Try the game, you'll probably like it. If you want more, the paper version is in reprint, and MT2 is a fine character generator for the paper version! Cheers! Actually I really enjoyed the character generation system. It's far superiour to many games of much newer date. But when the real game started I was quite disappointed... all towns on the first planet look almoust the same, couldn't find anything else but towns with few useful NPCs on the whole planet and so on... quite boring. I don't know if i should give the game some more time...
