Hi there everyone! Used to post here as a guest a couple of times. Now Im officially registered.

I just love old games, they remind me of when I was younger and PC games were so fun to play. Unfortunately I dont recall the name of many of those games that I used to play regularly.

One of which was a Descent-like game, only you used to ride a motorcycle (or some kind of motorcycle like ship) across a level. It wasnt the ordinary race game at all, as far as I remember - you had to reach certain places in the map and avoid enemies or getting stuck.
I am not completely sure, but I think you viewed everything in third person perspective and the world was 3D. I also remember boxes and crates scattered about.
I played it around 1995-1997.

Any help tracking this beastie down will be greatly appreciated!

Tomb Raider had motorcycle levels IIRC, but I don't think that's the one you're looking for.

No : )
Definitely not Tomb Raider.

Slipstream 5000 perhaps?

You can find it here, if that's the one :)

But no again. This is not the one.

Another thing just struck me - I am pretty sure the game had a very weird , and hard to figure out controls.

Went through the lists of racing games, simulators but couldnt find it. Only reasonable, since as far as I remember it wasnt exactly a racing game.

Do you probably mean "Hunter"? That game ran on the Amiga. You could run almost every vehicle that was around. That was 3d graphic still crappy but 3d. :D First person view.
Sorry, couldn't find any screenshots.

Fully 3D, you have the choice to go anywhere you please during any mission. A focus is put on freedom of choice; there's no one way to complete a mission. You can take control of any vehicle in the game, and these range from riding pedal bikes and windsurfing, to vans and ambulances, to tanks and armoured cars, to battleships and helicopters. Your arsenal includes grenades, explosives, various gadgets and a handgun, though deadlier weapons are mounted on some of the vehicles. Or if you prefer, you can acquire an enemy uniform and sneak in rather than blast your way through.

There are also many structures to be found, many containing regular citizens who may be interacted with (talking to them, bribing them...), though there are also more specialised structures which may contain vehicles, ammo, or anything you might find useful to your mission.
